Claire McAneny

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2008, and have been in small animal practice ever since. I’ve previously worked in two busy Small Animal Hospitals in West Yorkshire where I gained a wide range of experience in all aspects of small animal work. However, my main interest is surgery, both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, I am the Senior Surgeon here at the Dewsbury Hospital. I am currently working towards the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Small Animal Surgery), combined with a Masters in Veterinary Professional Studies through the University of Liverpool.

Outside of work my main passion is gymnastics, having previously competed for Scotland at International level. I am currently one of around 10 women worldwide to hold the International (Brevet) Men’s Artistic Gymnastics judging qualification, I judge regularly for Team GB and Scotland. I have judged at the last three Commonwealth Games – Delhi 2010, Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018, numerous World Cup and International events and have just returned from the Youth Olympic Games 2018 in Buenos Aires having been selected to judge by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

At home I have a beautiful Labrador called Molly, and have recently re-homed a kitten Rogue.
