Staff from Calder Vets have presented a cheque worth more than £650 to Hope Pastures, a charity that rescues abandoned horses chosen in memory of a late colleague.
Kylie Greenwood, Tracy Hemingway and Michele Squires visited the charity to present a cheque for £667, money which was raised by a group cycle ride across Calder’s 12 branches in Yorkshire.
A team of avid cyclists took part in the ‘Tour de Calder Vets’ to raise money for Hope Pastures and another charity, VetLife.
Hope Pastures is a sanctuary that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes neglected animals, and also gives people the opportunity to meet the animals and learn more about their care and well-being.
VetLife offers mental health support, financial assistance, information and resources to people working in the veterinary industry by providing a 24/7 phone and email helpline.
Kylie, health and safety coordinator at Calder Vets, said: “We raised money for our late colleague Lynsey Bacon who passed away suddenly in October last year.
“Lynsey was devoted to horses and in her memory, we wanted to raise some money for Hope Pastures because horses and this kind of charity work was very close to her heart.”
A few team members also spent a Saturday morning having a tour of the site, meeting the volunteers and helping to paint a new noticeboard.
